Volunteer Hospice Soul Care Speaker Series

Children and grief, two words we wish didn't have to go together but they do. Well-meaning adults may leave children out of sacred and transformative life moments, assuming they are too young to grieve, to understand, or participate in family good-byes. In this conversation, Dr. Atkins will talk about some ways grief manifests in children, how adults can help, and opportunities for including children in good-bye rituals as they are navigating loss.

Martha Jo Atkins is at home in the sacred and transformative space that is dying. As a professional counselor, speaker, and author, she has dedicated three decades to supporting grieving and bereaved children and families, and individuals in their end-of-life journeys.
